Marble Falls , Texas
Location: 47 Miles West of Austin
What was once a sleepy retirement community in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Marble Falls has been "discovered" and today is another rapidly growing Highland Lakes community. Founded in 1887, Marble Falls is ideally located an hour northwest of Austin and about 85 miles north of San Antonio.
The city drew its name from the falls of marble on the Colorado River. Since the river was dammed to form Lake Marble Falls, the falls are now underwater adn visible only rarely when the lake is lowered for dam repairs. The area is known for its pink granite, which adorms the State Capitol Building and many other state offices.
